I have never heard of this, but it was added as #122 on the SMWSA distillery list. Does anyone know anything about it??

Heavily peated product from the Lomond distillery, I think.

Hi there,

Croftengea is one of the 8 malts from Loch Lomond Distillery, Alexandria. The others are Inchmoan, Loch Lomond, Loch Lomond HP (heavily peated), Inchmurrin, Old Rhosdhu, Craiglodge, Glendouglas. With the exception of the Loch Lomond with a blue label and a 21 year old with a black label, the Old Rhosdhu and the Inchmurrin these malts were intended for blending. Only recently were Inchmoan, Croftengea, Craiglodge bottled as single malts. Loch Fyne Whiskies have a good range of them. Inchmoan and Croftengea are peated malts.

I seem to recall that the Croftengea bottling was a private or independent bottling, (bottled by The Whisky Exchange?) rather than bottled and released by the distillery?

I also seem to recall that reviews were fairly lukewarm.

Hi there,

yeah Admiral, as Loch Lomond did not sell some of their malts various IB and private bottlings of those have come up.
We are all curious, aren´t we?
