A large number of people rate Ardbeg 1977 as the best whisky they've tasted. being a fan of ardbeg i'm keen to try this. Are bottles still available? and if so where might i be able to get one off the web?

It is is hard to come by but still available. http://www.getwhisky.com have it for £150, which seems expensive to me. I saw some in Italy for £85 last month (should have bought it

)

Great whisky but not my favourite though.

A lot of people rate it so highly because , for it's age , it's still really peaty , personally i wouldn't pay £150 for it (luckily i've got some stashed ! :wink:

) but now if you want to try it your going to have to fork out for it .
I prefer the iodiney/cocoaness of the earlier 70's ones , especially the 1974 .

The Vinatge House in Soho have it for £120.

The have it on Islay for £69, which is about €100. You can also pick it up on ebay quite regularly.

In the Islay Whsky Shop in Bowmore. They were stocking the shelves when I was there. I bought a bottle, but I should have bought a couple.
