Glenmorangie Golden Rum Finish

This is a finish exclusive to Sainsbury's.

Anyone tasted it? Got any notes?

How does it compare to other Glenmorangie finishes?

Glenmorangie 10 is okay but rather safe in my view. It changes most according to wood finishes rather than age so I wondered what a rum finish would do to it.

Wasn't it Glenmorangie that released the version in Havana Rum casks? I've never seen it, since it can't be legally imported into the US because of the Cuban connections...

I would suspect the two should be fairly similar...

Tried it and not that impressed. Nothing wrong with it, and enjoyable enough, but I defnitely prefer the 10yo. JM scores it 94/100, however.

Bamber - how do you think it compares to Glenmorangie Port or Sherry finishes?

Hi Frodo,

I prefer the Port finish. It seems more lively, spicy and I like the fruitiness of the Port finish. The Golden Rum is better balanced, more integrated and less spicy (more oak than the 10yo IMO, though).

I've only had a mini of the Sherry finish and I cannot really remember that one.

"Glenmorangie Golden Rum Finish" is one of my 'top five' favs. Appeals to my sweet tooth. Wonderful, if a touch pricey at £29.99.

Sainsbury's is a large chain of supermarkets so there will be loads of them in, and around, London.

here we get a Glenmorangie White Rum finish, 18 years old. It has been around for some time now. I have not tried it, sorry.
