Whisky Live New York 2006

Postby Sherried Malt » Mon Feb 20, 2006 5:31 pm

Anyone making the trip for this one?

And for those that have attended other Whisky Live's, any suggestions on how to best to work your way through the many offerings? Any strategy?

Thanks!

I was thinking about it. Probably won't because I bought several expensive bottles of whisky recently. Would make up my mind more easily if I knew who was running the master classes!

If it wasn't so far afield, I'd sign up too. You do seem to know your stuff Chris and are very generous in sharing your wisdom. I think you'd run an awesome Masterclass. Muskrat P.

I plan on being there to tape a couple of WhiskyCast episodes, and would certainly sign up for a master class of yours!

Thanks all. Does anyone have an idea what the master classes would be like - who's holding them and such? Something on the whisky live website said that they would announce this on February 07th, but I've checked and found nought. Am I looking in the wrong places?

I'd like to say mellow, then sherried, then peaty whiskies. You can do this within the booths, but not on a larger scale. I'd remember to eat a meal beforehand, and eat during the event if there is finger food available (there was at Spirit of Toronto).

I would add that you might want to formulate questions beforehand about the whiskies you are likely to try if you are curious about them (eg. "what persentage of Talisker 10 is sherried" or "do you guys chill-filter your whiskies"?). Don't expect people pouring the drams to have detailed inside info, however some do. It's an opportunity to get info as well as try new drams.

Cheers

Apparently I had a few people I didn't run into.
Next time, Mark - We'll actually set a plan to meet.

I've got my recap from the show coming out tomorrow...

Let's see...we missed each other at WhiskyFest...now at Whisky Live. Why do I have a feeling this is going to be one of those "Dr. Livingstone, I presume" moments when we finally get together...

It will likely be somewhere completely non-whisky related.
