Macallan 12 or 15 Fine Oak

I already have the Macallan 10 Fine Oak. I really, really enjoy this dram. I did some searching on this forum and it seems that some people love the 12 FO and some others think it's decent...and would rather go with the 15 FO.

Should I go with the 12 or 15 year FO? All the reviews on the 15 FO have been very positive. What do you suggest?

I would suggest you try the Fine Oak 15. I much prefer this to the Fine Oak 10 which I did not care for at all.

Frankly, I'd give both a miss. Track down a bottle of the proper 12 year old original Macallan (or the "sherried version" as we now have to refer to it as) and find out what a good Macallan is supposed to taste like. :wink:

Admiral: Where would I go about trying to locate one? Most of the liquor stores around here don't have any of the older Macallan bottles.

I would appreciate any more input regarding the 12 and 15.

Though I was never crazy about the 12 Yrs FO,I have to admit the 15 Yrs FO is exceptional

I thought the FO was only 10 and 15 yrs, while the sherried is the 12 and 18 yrs?

IMO, the current 12 yrs sherried bottling is the best sherried Macallan in years.

i am not too keen on the FO 10, I haven't tried the other FO macallans, I am really impressed with the Macallan elegentia 12 years, the fino sherry casks gives it an extra smoothness

The Fine Oak is available in the following ages:
8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 21, 25 & 30 years. Some of the expressions are restricted to specific markets.
