Has anyone tried bunnahabhain 18 year old?

If so, what were your thoughts?

I tried it yesterday evening for the first time and I was moderately satisfied with it. Will test it again during the week end and then publish the tasting notes on my website: http://www.whisky-news.com.

At first note, the nose was light and thin, but the body smooth, salty and slightly oily, on grassy notes. The finish medium long on seaweed and peated notes. More complex and different from the 12 Y0.

I very much like the 12yo, and am looking forward to getting my hands on the older Bunnahabhain official expressions.

I have not tried the new "official" older expressions. However, my wife was recently in a major whisky retail store in London and asked about the new 25 yr on my behalf. The proprietor said that upon tasting a sample, everything in his glass after the first few sips was poured down the drain. He described it as "rubbish". Naturally, I was surprised considering some of the excellent old Bunnahabhains out there (especially from Gordon & MacPhail and other bottlers), but it was an interesting reaction nonetheless.

I have just tasted a sample of the new 18y. and I must say I was greatly disapointed.
It has a nose reminiscent of a restaurant kitchen or a pizza/kebab house and it tasted like some kind of fried meat/pork. Some might like it but for me this is one of the most weird tastes I've ever discovered in whisky.

Not in my taste at all...
