Glenfarclas Dark Oloroso

Postby Dubois » Tue Apr 18, 2006 8:18 pm

Hello,
In my regular shop they have a bottle of Glenfarclas Dark Oloroso 1991.
Does anyone have some experience with this bottle ?

Thanks.

I have a bottle of Glenfarclas 1989 Oloroso First Fill.
I think it has now been replaced by both 1990 and 1991 Vintages. The one I have is a tremendous whisky. A wonderful nose of toffee, cream, vanilla and demerara. Chewy with oak, vanilla and sherry on the palate and a long, smooth and sweet finish.
If you fancy a rich, complex & sherried whisky, buy it.

Cheers

There is something about the darker sherried malts that makes me want to buy them. It just says "buy me."

Where are you located?

The reason for asking is that I find the price somewhat high. In Europe a bottle of Glenfarclas First Fill Oloroso 1989-1991 normally retails at around 45-50 Euros.

Cheers

I guess this is the bottle you mean:

It seems this is a Single Cask bottling which might put up the price a bit. I don't know how it compares to the one I have, a Vintage 1989/2002 at 43%, limited to 1800 bottles from 1st fill Oloroso Casks. It looks like this:

If http://www.whiskycorner.be is your source you could always ask them if they know the difference. The one I have is worth every cent...

Cheers

I think that's the bottling they were offering at Whisky Live last year in Paris, it was very good, if I could have stuffed one more bottle into my luggage I would have chosen this bottling.

Since I have a love for sherried SMSW, I really want to get my hands on this one. Is there an age statement on it? Also, is it available in the US or can it be shipped to the US? Thanks.

To Evangelos :

No, I don't think there is any age statement .

As for availability in the US I would suggest you have a look on their website.
