rare malts selection

Hi,
is it possible that Diageo holds a number of bottles to sell them in the future? Is known exactly how many bottles there are from each release? All information on the rare malts series is welcome!

Hello funinabottle and a Big welcome to the forum.
There's an excellent website from a very known swedish collector, Ulf Buxrud, who also collects the Rare Malts Serie. There's a load of different bottlings, packages and editions so you better be prepared to spend some money if you're after them all.
I suggest you check it out. It has some invaluable information.
Most of the distilleries owned by Diageo also have large selections of the RM Series so if you don't find what you're looking for at your local store or webshop you can always try there.

Hi,

Diageo has decided to stop the Rare Malt selection, which started in 1995. On the other hand, they are promoting the "limited edition" range, with a higher price tag. It is a move for Diageo to sell the "RM" at a higher price.

The number of bottles for the last edition, the 2006 can be seen on Diageo website http://www.malts.com

There's also a book celebrating the Rare Malts up for release in 2006. 175 pages with foreword by Charles MacLean this will be a "Coffee Table Format " book covering the history, technical details and lots more from all the distilleries of The Rare Malts Portfolio. A special part of the book will be dealing with the tasting notes.

No, I'm afraid not. The information is taken from the Buxrud website. As he is a very known Rare Malts collector and also a Keeper Of The Quaich I guess he's got the information on a first hand basis. Just follow the link in the previous post and you'll get more information and links than you could possibly dream of... :wink:
