Longrow 100 Proof

Who's tried it and what do you think? I've yet to see it in NY, but I've been making trips to Chicago lately where I can get it at Binny's--but at the steep price of $110. I love Springbank 100 proof, which I prefer to the Springbank 10 by far (I've yet to try the 15, btw). If I stand to like the Longrow 100 proof that much more than the Longrow 10, which I have and like, well then maybe it's worth the price.

I haven't appreciated the Longrow 10 1995 as much as the previous vintages, but I have found the Longrow 100 proof and the Longrow 14 (much) better. I haven't tried the Longrow 10 1996, but if you love the Springbank 100 proof and want to try something more peaty, go for the 100 proof.

I tasted it in april this year. A wee note on it:

Longrow 10 yo 100 Proof (OB) 57%
Nose: Hay, sour smoke and iodine. Floral. Oranges.
Palate: Full and oily body. Smoky. Sweet fudge and malt. Liqorice.
Finish: Long. Very nice and smooth. Smoky and salt.
Score: 85

I haven't had the precise bottling you refer to, but I've had some cask-strength bottlings of Longrow (i.e. in the 57-60% ABV or 100proof range) from the SMWS and it's delicious whisky.

Springbank bottlings have really gone down hill lately, IMHO, but they've definitely got things right with the Longrow.
