New 22YO Port Ellen Release - OMC

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new release of this, some is coming into Australia finally and want to pick up a bottle, but with it's hefty price tag want to make sure it's alright - I'm guessing it would be either a 2005 or 2006 release

Haven't had it, but if you were going to take a leap of faith on anything, an OMC PE would be a pretty good risk, I think.

Haven't tried it yet but I think I have an unopened 20cl bottle Advance Sample OMC of what you're referring to, 22yo Distilled: March 1983 Bottled: November 2005 from a refill hogshead. If it isn't the exact one it'll probably be very close.

I have an open bottle of 1983 22yo Port Ellen OMC. Refill Butt Unchillfiltered bottled at 50% ABV.

It is a gorgeous dram. I'm afraid my nose isn't up to much so all I get on it is a bit of seaweed and phenol. Peat comes in late on the palate after a sweet, toffeeish start. Sweet, smoky finish goes on forever.

If this is the bottle you are looking at you shouldn't be disappointed.

Always great stuff from the Douglas Laing Brothers!! I've had a few of their Port Ellen bottlings, 21y and 22y. Truly beautiful whiskies, I can highly recommend them. I have now also seen the 23y OMC from Port Ellen, probably brand new, barely released.
