Oh yea, and of course The Whisky Exchange!! I unfortunately missed getting there when I visited London last month, but I have purchased bottles there in the past, had them delivered to friends, who brought them over.

And The Whisky Exchange Vinopolis location too! It's where a friend picked up a small bottle of the 1990 distilled Lonmorn, taken from the cask, an excellent whisky!!

Celtic Whiskey on Dawson Street in Dublin. A great little store with lovely staff and Redbreast aways on the tasting table. Many a cold winters day I have slipped in there, not to buy anything but to have a little shot or two of th Redbreast.

Mainly Malts, The Courtyard, Bawtry, South Yorkshire. Established about 18 months. Already built up good relationships with many in the business. Gets a lot of limited editions in. Very friendly and family run. Keeps 300+ malts in, good selection of blends and overseas whiskies. Runs regular tastings. Burns Night not to be missed! Online ordering too.

Best of all, 10 minutes walk from my house!

My other three are mentioned above. The Whisky Exchange, Loch Fyne, and Royal Mile Whiskies.

I would second FWS in Boston. I would also add Town Wine & Spirits in Rumford, RI. While not the important city that bond prefers in this post, it is not that far from Providence (what is in RI?) and Elliott Fishbein is, like Joe at FWS, an educator about single malts. He also sponsors wonderful tastings thoughout the year.

I recommend very much Enoteca Al Parlamento Achilli here in Rome. This is where you will also find all those important Samaroli bottlings and "odd" Moon Import bottlings. This is a beautiful enoteca and the staff is very polite and helpful. IMO it is the best shop in Rome.

Setting personal service issues aside, another whisky shop in Rome that one could mention, given their selection and prices, is Enoteca Costantini.

Some of the nicest that I've come across are as follows:

1. Milroys of Soho. Legendary shop, which, despite of changes in ownership, continues to provide spot-on service and has superb selection of whiskies, including many Milroy's own bottlings. If I had to choose one single whisky shop to visit, this would be it.

2. Loch Fyne Whiskies. I like the personal touch, and prices are occasionally exceptional. Service & delivery works A-OK. Delivery price outside UK is rather dear though.

3. Weinquelle, Hamburg. Superb service from the Luehmann family, and great selections & prices. Store is definitely worth a visit, the folks are very very friendly and kind and their internet sales work extremely well. Highly recommended!
