Lagavulin 15 Year Old Distillers Edition

Postby slojo » Tue Nov 14, 2006 3:32 pm

I had never seen a Lagavulin 15 yo so assumed this was a mistake but then I saw that it says "Exclusive to Waitrose" so maybe it is correct.

Anyone know anything about this?

I reckon this is just a typo and refering to the Laga 16yo PX version.

But I am confused by the 'Exclusive' bit alongside 'This popular edition'

There's a good chance it's correct, the DE does not normally have an age statement but the year distilled (ie 1986). If I remember correctly the first Lagavulin DE was a twenty year old but the age has decreased into the teens.

I think you have a point there Lawerence.

The last few were just from quick mental arithmetic on my behalf so could be either 15 or 16 year olds

1987 version bottled 2003
1988 version bottled 2004
1989 version bottled 2006

It looks like it's exclusive to Waitrose - a bit like the HP 15 which was created exclusively for Sainsburys who wanted a 15yo for under £30!

So now they have 15 year olds doing the distillation? Is this to cut costs?

How many 15-year-old distillers are there?

Wonder if "exclusive" means as far as supermarkets are concerned?

The Blurb in the link sounds like the standard DE of Laga, so may be a standard product, the exclusive part may be among the supermarkets.

Maybe ??
