Malt Whisky Cheddar

While browsing the cheese aisle at my local grocery store tonight I found a cheddar cheese imported from England. It is called mature cheddar with malt whisky. It doesn't say what whisky they used but it sure is good. Has anyone else tried this?

i was in my local asda last night, folk in america know it as wal-mart, anyways i seen whisky smoked cheese, tried a bit of it and it just seamed like a smokey cheese. not too diffrent from bavirian smoked or applewood smkoed, didnt tatse liek whisky, just smokey. although it did smell like whisky...
i also got whisky smoked bacon last night from tesco, again, didnt taste like whisky, just like heavly smoked bacon.

makes me wonder. what would cheese flavored whisky or bacon flavored whisky taste like.... im sure bruichladdich will try it sooner or later...

The cheese I found is not smoked. It just says that malt whisky was blended into the cheese.

I've had several whisky cheeses, although I can't at the moment remember any brands. They were all tasty--it seems to be a good combination, unlike the whisky tablet I've had. I have a chunk of Moine Mhor tablet here that is well past its sell-by date and needs disposal....
