Beginning 2007 was the new Glenrothes 1994 Vintage released.
Acc. to one tasting note this one goes back to the roots of Glenrothes.
Does anyone tried it already?

Hi there,

1994 - 2006

Original Glenrothes

43%

Character: soft, ripe fruits, toffee and lemon citrus

Checked: MaxMcFarlane October 94

Approved: John Ramsay 11/4/06

Tasting Notes whisky-info

Geruch: Ein fruchtiger Duft nach frischen Zitrus Früchten. Süßes Malz

Geschmack: Nach Mirabellen, leichte Vanillenote. Cremig, mit süßem Caramel und ein klein wenig weißen Pfeffer. Mittellanges bis langem Finish.

Fazit: Sehr lecker!

Arthur Motley
Nose
Orange: pith and rind. Lemon Jif and geraniums.
Palate
Dark chocolate, baked apples, hazelnuts and something sweet yet savoury like black bean sauce.
Finish
Dry roasted peanuts.
Comment
A full-on, after dinner style and a bold, characterful spirit.

Dave Broom
Nose
Fleshily ripe. Dried pear, clotted cream with scented estery notes. With water there’s wholemeal bread, a touch of orange. Quite zippy.
Palate
A slightly strange mix of stewed fruit and dry malt tussling together. Hint of sulphur. Seems young suggesting greater things to come.
Finish
Long rich, lightly spiced slightly citric.
Comment
A teasing mix of aromas and flavours.

Martine Nouet

Whisky authority Martine Nouet has identified The Glenrothes 1994 Vintage as being bright gold in colour with hazelnut hues. The nose is of fruit gums, fresh apple and a touch of gorse. It has the richness of lemon shortbread and custard tart. On the palate the youthful vigour comes to the fore; the 1994 Vintage is tangy and lively with hints of plum jam, macadamia nuts and pepper dust. Overall, it is a stimulating dram with lots of depth – distinctively punchy on the palate and distinctly different.

Is it available anywhere? I checked the normal places and nothing. It doesn't even show on the Glenrothes website.

It's not yet on the Glenrothes site, correct.
Here in Switzerland I can get it if I want. And my dealer has every month a "Whisky of the month" at a discount price! And in February it's this one.
I think I will go for it.... especially as my birthday is in February as well!

It is coming soon on Glenrothes Website. The Webadmin has some other things to do at the moment. Anyway.

The 1994 Vintage is an very good Single Malt. He has the creamy taste as every GR. Dave named it Clotted Cream. It has the taste of small yellow plum, vanilla. The nut i didn't found, but nobody is perfect :wink:

kallaskander put my Tastingnotes in german here into the forum.

We shared a bottle in a german forum end of last year and all were surprised from the taste. Hope that this Malt is going to offer here in germany soon. In Switzerland, belgium, netherland, spain he is available. I think in UK, too. The prize is different in each country, but must be in a range of 50 -70 Euro...(not really shure, don't beat me if diffrent)

It must be available in London at BBR Shop. Not shure of the rest of the country..

Well, this sounds really good! And I can get it for 45 Euro (converted from CHF)!!!
