Talisker 175th

Just seen the Talisker 175th Anniversary in my local oddbins for £60.

Any verdicts, worth trying for £60?

I don't have too many figures for that one, but 60 GBP is not a bad price so I would try it for that.

its a no age statment whisky, but many of the casks vatted together for this edition were 20+years old, on that basis, its a good buy.

Its on at £52.90 at LFW but currently out of stock. So I guess a bird in the hand is worth one out of stock.

Probably.

When I first tried this I thought it was "Talisker squared!. However, the more I drink, the less impressed I have been.

If you like Talisker, it is worth trying.

I definitely think it is worth trying, but I would opt for a tasting before buying a full bottle. I say this because I think the general consensus around here would be that the 18yo is even better and can be obtained for less money than the 175th. I liked the 175th and I think it is a good whisky, but I would choose the 18 over it. If you like Talisker and decide to buy the bottle, I don't think you will be disappointed. That price seems about right, but not a real bargin (at least in my neck of the woods).

If it's the cask strength one I tasted at the Oslo Whisky Festival in 2005, I'd get it! It was excellent, and I'm not a Talisker fan.
