Ardbeg Nearly There

Postby bamber » Thu Mar 08, 2007 2:07 pm

This is the best one yet.

It's got an indulgent syrupy texture and tastes sweet and smoky, with much more citrus than I've noticed in the other 2 special releases.

Definitely will be buying a full bottle of this.

Hi there,

seems like you have been closer than merely Almost There! Where exactly?

Greetings

I hear it's not released yet just a few samples doing the rounds.

Next month some time for general release I think.

I had my first official bottle sample of Still Young at the Limburg Whisky Festival last year and I'm hoping to do the same with the Almost there! during the festival this year.

I personnaly think it is a great price for a very drinkable Cask Strength whisky, and the fact that it has some collectability makes it even better. I keep telling myself I should probably get more VY(3) and SY(4) but I figure I can't get too greedy.

Can't wait to try this one.

when was it released?

Looks like one to go for at the whisky fringe.

From what was observed with the previous releases from Ardbeg, it might take a few weeks before it starts to be available on their website and in Europe in general.

Cheers

Have asked the LCBO about privately ordering this one. Hopefully they'll come back with a number soon.

ASY is my favorite Ardbeg at the moment so while I hope Almost/Nearly There is even better, if it is only as good I will still be very pleased.

Met with the Moet Hennessey rep yesterday and it's available from the 1st week in April. They are also releasing 200 x limited edition 4.5 litre bottles of a 10yo CS in August as well to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ardbegs new ownership.

Will cost in the vicinity of £350 and it will apparently have something in the neck to allow you to pour it easily.

£350 for 4.5L (one Gallon) of Caskstrength whisky ain't too bad , works out at under £60 per 75cl bottle , there will be 1000 worldwide ( incl the 200 for the UK ) , it'll weigh about 6.5kg and will be called Ardbeg Mór (which is Gaelic for Big , magnificent....but i'm sure someone will say this is wrong......) .
I for one will be trying to get one after all the 1997 "For Discussion" was wonderful stuff !

Nearly There, Almost There, what's the difference? Are we being cute with our names, or is Ardbeg also releasing a Nearly There prior to the scheduled Almost There release???

Thanks for clearing it up Gordon! All that silliness surrounding naming can create quite confusion, and buzz, I guess too!

I'm looking forward to the last one in the series, There There, which is the antidote to people tasting the three cask strength baby Ardbegs all in one session ;)

No, but there will be a final bottling just before the new Ten is released called "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?".....

No, that's right, but it's a bit funny, as "beg" means "small".
