Due to unforseen budget limitations I have to choose between the 20 yo or the 25 yo,they're both the same price at Binnys, whats the better bottle?

If I remember rightly Jim Murray rated the 62% 20yr old one of the greatest Taliskers of all time but some forum members reckoned the other unsherried bottlings were more complex and rated the 25 higher. Either way I think you're on a win win situation if you can afford it.

I don't think the 62% 20yo that has rated so high is available in the US. I have a Talisker 20yo, Sherry-cask 59.7% abv bottled in 2002 and a Talisker 25yo Refill-cask 57.8% abv bottled in 2004. The 20yo has a very dominate sherry influence that makes it unbalanced on the bitter/spicy side, IMHO. The 25yo is exceptional. You might want to check the bottle details before purchase as there are more than one release of each.
