Balvenie 17yo New Oak

Postby pkt77242 » Tue Mar 20, 2007 2:59 am

I bought a bottle of Balvenie 17yo new oak while on vacation last week. I was wondering if any one has tasted it and if so what the tasting notes might be?

Thank you

I have a bottle, but I'm afraid I'm not the guy to look to for notes. About all I can say is that it's definitely Balvenie, with a dry woodiness that lingers on the finish. A bit light in body, it seems to me, although that may be because I have very little else on the go at the moment that's 43%--lot o' cask strengths lying around the Midden Heap. That dryness seems to dominate, and might put some off, but I quite like it. Not my favorite Balvenie, but definitely interesting.

Well, that's more than I thought I'd tell you.
