London Pubs/Bars??

I am off to London for a few days. Any pubs/bars folks out here recommend which are worth a visit?

Some which have some heritage built around them, others with a great collection of beers and whiskies?

Grateful for recommendations.

And of course, to buy, check out The Whisky Exchange at Vinopolis! Get that Longmorn from the cask, 1990, if they still have it!!!
And the Scotch Malt Whisky Society has a member's room in London now too if you get the chance.

I do plan to buy some whisky. Is 700 ml the standard measure that one can buy or are there places where one can hope to pick up 500 ml offerings?

I'm sure you'll find certain 50cl bottlings at some of those great shops if they have been bottled that way. I wonder why you're looking for that size in particular?

Macmyra Preludium 03 comes as a 50cl bottle.

Yup! Damn, I should've come up with that one Les, great recommendation!! And the :03 is my favorite bottling thus far.

The Boisdale in Bishopsgate has got an impressive range of malts behind the bar. Also does pretty good food in the restaurant.

Won't work--most of the malts bottled in 50cl bottles are quite expensive. It's a case of cut-the-size-but-not-the-price. Better to find full-size bottles within your budget. You may find the occasional half-bottle, but whether you find any such that are of interest to you is another matter--the selection will not be great.
