Glenfiddich - 18 yr Ancient Malt

Postby killerwhale » Wed Apr 04, 2007 7:48 am

how good is this malt?
is it worth $93 Canadian (Laga 16 is $94 and it's tops in my book).... I really like Glenfiddich 15 Solera Reseve ($65).... but is the 18 worth the extra price?
I am just wondering about forum members thoughts on this malt..... it may be good but is it a 'buy for sure' at this price????

btw the 15 Solera Reserve is really good..... it'll be a staple in my house for sure.... the Glenfiddich 12 however will probably not be here once my bottle is drained... (it's okay but not confident it's a buy again.... Glenlivet 12 seems a bit better... plus there are other malts that are better for just a little more ie) Balvenie 10).

Mr Lazy here can't be bothered working out the exchange rate, but as far as the 18yo goes, I have it as a regular in my cupboard. I rate it above the solera. It is a good whisky and ,IMHO, worth the £30 or so it costs in the UK.

It's a lovely dram, one I need to revisit (and wouldn't you know, I actually have another bottle, contrary to my buying policy stated elsewhere). It's worth noting, though, that many people here have stated a preference for the 15.

My local bar has started carring the 18 in place of the 12 and I've had a few drams latly, it is a great dram well worth the price.
