Port Ellen - a new bottling from 1982

Postby adogranonthepitch » Wed Apr 11, 2007 9:04 pm

Good evening fellow punters.

Image

I appreciate this is a little naughty, but I wanted tell you guys something that myself and my friend, Richard Parker, have come up with a single cask bottling of Port Ellen.

For the record, I have no financially interest in this bottle but I did have a input in its design.

I hope I have not offended anyone with this posting. However, Richard was a whisky colllector who had the balls to jack his job in last year and open a whisky shop. Full marks to the guy in bottling this..... you cant beat a nice pair of Pert mEllons!

Do you think he would be interested in a bottle?

I think this whisky is going to be very collectable. It is something very different and one that is very cheeky and unusual . Lets support all involved and buy a bottle. Good luck to everyone concerned.

I’ve ordered one! And am really looking forward to receiving this one.

Richard Parker and I became acquainted right here on the Whisky Mag forum back in January when Richard requested information about a trip he was making to Houston. We met here in Houston and exchanged bottles and info. He is a great guy and has provided some great suggestions. I’ve ordered whisky through Parker Whisky and have had no problems with delivery. His ad in Whisky Magazine states, “A whisky shop run by an enthusiast .. for enthusiasts!” I think this reflects Richard’s approach to whisky very nicely.

If you’re interested in Port Ellen’s, I recommend buying this one. As killerwhale suggested, sign-up for the shop newsletter and receive some great deals.

as an aside; I met Richard here in BC at my workplace and he was a super nice fellow (could have put me to shame with his knowledge but didn't)..... it's always a pleasure doing business with someone who loves whisky ....
ps: I shall order a few more bottles from him in the near future... :D

Very cheeky image(dont know why but it made me think of Bo Derek in 10) and a nice play on words. If the whisky is as good as the label I could see this being a little cult classic if 200 bottles is enough to be a cult classic. Did a sample find it's way to Jim Murray or the malt maniacs, I imagine a lot of people still want to see a review before they make the necessary outlay, and if this got a favourable review i could see it's value appreciating significantly.

I have been a visitor to Parker's Whisky several times but, being a new member, did not know Richard's connection to the Forum.

I've since e-mailed the shop and he has put a couple away for me (one to drink, one to save...or drink later). He sounds like a very nice fellow and is quite accommodating.

Good for him for following his heart and setting up shop. Lucky are those who can get paid for exercising their passion.
