Bowmore 17.... going?

I've read

a couple of posts on my searches through the forum that have hinted at Bowmore 17 not being availiable in most markets (phasing out), ... can anyone shed more light on this?

Yeah, it's being replaced with the Bowmore 18.

yes as others have said its getting discontinued and replaced by the 18yo, whats left of the 17yo in the shops is the last there is.

just like the balvenie 10yo, thats being discontinued too :lol:

Tempted to get one of the new Bowmores but LFWs comments puts me off:

'Nettles and vegetative including lavender and Twix®, biscuit and caramel I suppose. Nice and well balanced. To taste there is too much perfume, it's not whisky, adding water just makes it nasty, too horrible to continue. PLUS a shit finish that just won't go away.'

I think he means :yuk:

Leither we have had the Bowmore 15 Darkest. It's very good. Sometimes Richard's comments have to be taken with a pinch of salt. It's only one opinion he has afterall.

My advice get the new 15.

The 17yo is rumoured to be available in taxfree outlets in the future - but I suppose only as long as the stocks last.

The 17yo will be available in International Markets and Travel Retail Only in definitely. I heard this at the Scottish launch of the rebranding in November last year. I'm goinbg to Bowmore next week and will get confirmation from some of the reps from Fior Brands who do the marketing.

Les is right - the new darkest is lovely, and the 18 even more 'Bowmore' IMO(whatever that means!)

Hi there,

if you visit the Bowmore homepage and browse around through the portfolios you will find the Bowmore 17 in the new bottle and the new tube. That would be odd if it is to be discontinued.
But I heard that, too and went looking. Strange if they should have made just one new bottle of it to take a picture.
