This used to be available in the Houses of Parliament only. Does anyone know if it's still obtainable ?

Is this so rare that no-one's even heard of it.

My recollection is that the Speaker always selects the House of Commons single malt. Speaker Martin is tee-total and so selected a tasting panel to evaluate various whiskies. They chose a 10 year old Macallan. From memory, it came in a fairly recognisable Macallan white box. However, there was a bagpipe design on both the box and the bottle's label.

My local MP got me into the Commons to buy some, but its long drunk.

Yes, that's the very one. I'll try and get another pass to the House of Commons, to stock up.

From memory, it was simply a standard 10 year old Mac with a special label? Which does make it more collectable, I s'pose, but no better or worse to drink.

Have a House of Commons visit arranged for next week, so more 'badged' whisky for my drinks cabinet. Yippee

There was still stock left in the House of Commons gift shop yesterday afternoon, the day of the vote for the new Speaker ( John Bercow). I managed to get a few bottles of the green boxed 2nd edition bottle queuing alongside MPs with an eye for an historic collectable (or perhaps the instant profit as it is now on Parkers and other specialist sites for anything between £100 and £170 a bottle). A fine malt it is too.
