Postby Deactivated Member » Tue Jun 12, 2007 11:28 am

Anyone tried Caol Ila "Whisky Galore" bottling?
I love CS Caol Ila and this one is 60% abv.

Servus MT,

I tryed the Caol Ila "Whisky Galore", 13 y.o., 60% 2 weeks ago in Munich in a Pub called The Arc (http://www.thearc-pub.com), here my notices:

N: fruity, peaty, alcoholic, seaair, wood, bourbonnotes, smoke, mild
G: peaty, dry, sweet, warm, fruity, oily
A: long lasting, peaty, sweet dry, wood, bourbonnotes, mild

A Bonus for very well intgrated alcohol, a rather nice and powerfull Dram

Hey peat-chaser, I don't know by your last forum whether you were being funny or not by the Arc comment as M-T owns the Arc. He was looking for notes before he put it into his pub.... did you get you forum dram :P

Next time your in there ask for Keith and you should get a good natter about whisky from the Man

(and a great source for retail whisky too so don't be shy to ask him what he has on offer  )

Hi irishwhiskeychaser, I´m sorry but I didn´t realise that MT was Keith,
because like you see I´m quite new here.
I allready know him from a visit in his pub last friday and he was it who told
me to have a look at this forum.

Is this bottling from Duncan Taylor?

They used to have a 'Whisky Galore' Range.

hi Bruce,

Duncan Taylor does own the Whisky Galore Range but what I gather that seems to be being replaced by their NC2 range - Non Chilfiltered and Non Coloured.

One thing I would like to say is don't you think that independent bottlings of Caol Ila are far better than than the official bottlings - as good as they are!

That's great! Some nice honest confusion here for new friends, meeting again elsewhere, but not realizing it! Good stuff! I assume it will happen to most of us sometime, when we least expect it! That Arc pub must be truly a great place!! No arguing the whisky is tops!

The DTC Caol Ila bottlings I've had are superb and well worth buying.

I was just wondering if the bottling mentioned is from DTC.
