Which is better the 18 range or the more recent 19 range?

Waitrose are stocking both @ £30 which I think is a good price

It is a good price, and even better around fathers day and xmas when they chop off a fiver to make it £25. I've only had batch 16 so can't compare, sorry.

I doubt if anyone will be able to compare batches 18 and 19 around here as our overseas friends will no doubt be a batch or two behind.

IMHO you won't get a better cask strength sherried Speysider for that price other than Glenfarclas 105, but the Abunadh seems to be preferred on this forum. I think unctuous is one word to describe it!

Had a sip of a 19 in a pub(yes!) the other night. It was amazing! Cherry, sherry, Sherbert, dusting sugar, cough linctus...but it could have been "tastier" due to the circumstances...warm vibes, great gig...warm whisky near the bottom of the bottle. i currently have the 16, newly opened, so hard to compare. Perhaps the 19 is a tad creamier??

whatever. i've never had a bad one...i've tried 13, 14, 15, 16, 19.

Had a chat with the lady at the distillery gift shoup. "They take 100 sherry casks and select the 50 most suitable for abundah, then make a mix to check that it's as close as possible to the previous batches".

I asked her if she thought the earlier batches were better and she replied "no, in fact the opposite".

Anyone in the LA area want to try some comparisons on this? I have most of them starting at Batch 6 and running to Batch 18, 15-18 are open.

The 19 is a little sweeter than the 18 but the 18 in my opinion has a much nicer after taste. Was drinking both in the Mash Tun in Aberlour on Sat night but I have to say the nicest we blind tasted that night was the Cragganmore 12 which pleased my dad as that was his 1st distillery.

I would say that my preference has been this order: Batch 17, 15, 18, 16 (descending order). I've tried several of the others but these are separated by years in time. Somewhere in the "What are you drinking now?" thread I posted some notes on the batches.

I guess the biggest drawback I have for Batch 16 is that it has spirity notes.

If there is anyone in the area that wishes to do some tastings, great. If any of you happen into LA let me know. We could probably make some bottles look like this. :dead:

I don't think it's necessary to create a new thread (even for the title typo ;p) but I just wanted to ask if someone already tried the batch#20 that was released yesterday ? (dixit Jeanett Grant from http://www.maltwhiskydistilleries.com )
How's this one ?
