Ardbeg 10yo

Postby malthead » Fri Jul 13, 2007 12:55 am

I was stumbling through some boxes today and found a 10yo Ardbeg from when Glenmorangie first rereleased the 10yo - you know the one that said introducing the 10yo on the box.

Two questions a) is this of any value?

and

b) has anyone ever done a tasting of various 10 yo Ardbegs that have came out since Glenmorangie started releasing them?

Appreciate your comments.

It's probably not of any significant value right now but given the collectability of Ardbeg and the fact this was the 1st Glenmo bottling and Glenmo have subsequently tinkered with peating levels etc for their soon to be 10 it could well become more valuable in the next 5/10 years.

As a drink I had one when they first came out and thought it was fantastic( close to but a little less complex than the 1977)dont think the subsequent 10s are quite as good as this first one, they often seem to be too toffeeish on 1st opening and take a while to really hit their stride.
