Which Macallan 25 vintage?

Does anyone have an opinion on the various vintages of the Macallan 25 Anniversary bottling? How much did it vary from year to year? (I believe they stopped showing the distillation date after 1975 or 1976...)

Was there the variability that Macallan 18s from the very early 80's seem to have vs. ones from the Seventies?

Or is there any difference between the dated ones vs. the undated ones currently produced?

I think that this would be hard to tell, at least without doing a flight (and who can afford that).

I have had several different 25's and yes there were probably slight differences, but the over all character and experience was very much the same.

I don't know if they even mix up a new batch every year anymore. Even changing the packaging does not have to mean new beverage in it.

I do think that the variations in the 25's are less than the variations that I have experienced with the 18yo's.

Well aren you just the mean one.

I would agree with MikeyMad that the variation between the different vintages has been slight so far. Maybe if much older vintages were tried the opinion might be different.
