Lagavulin 25 yo vs. Ardbeg Lord of the Isles
I've stumbled upon these two for the same price. I can only afford one - which one should I buy?

I last had the Lagavulin 25yo in 2003 - it was the first release. I found it particularly dry and oaky, and I don't know whether later releases improved on this.

I've had the LOTI several times, most recently earlier this year. Whilst it's not the most exciting Ardbeg going around, its flaws and faults are not as obvious as I remember for the Lagavulin 25, so based purely on that experience, I would recommend the Ardbeg.

I've never tried the Lagavulin 25 year old, but would love the chance to sample.
The Lord of the Isles I've tried a few times, and have always really enjoyed. The finish is amazing with a real chocolate taste.

If I was you, I'd buy a lottery ticket, cross my fingers and hopefully get both bottles.
