I am curious to the Glenfarclas Family Casks. It is quite nice to see such an uninterrupted line of vintages available at mostly reasonable prices. Do you have any experiences with specific bottlings from this line? They are all quite different, with different cask types mixed in. Are the older expressions, which are consistently a little bit more expensive, reasonably priced? There is no age statement on them!? I assume the entire series is recently bottled? I am specifically interested in the 1984 expression, since I am from the same 'vintage'

There's been a bit of recent discussion about the Glenfarclas Family Cask series on one of the other threads. Pop over to the other thread and you'll find some interesting thoughts on it all.
But to answer your questions directly here, I've tried both the 1977 and 1968 bottlings. They were both absolutely spectacular and I thoroughly recommend them.
Cheers, ADmiral

Thanks, I was having trouble locating the 'Search' in the new layout. I assume you mean this thread: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6850

1984 vintage?? You might just be the youngest vintage on the forum. In fact, till recently, you would not be served whisky at a bar in the city where I live

Hi K-mile If you ever go to Speyside you should visit the mash tun pub in Aberlour - they recently puchased the entire range of vintages from Glenfarclas for £15,000 they are available for dramming if you can afford it

Well, in The Netherlands I am allowed for over 5 years now to drink strong alcoholic beverages. I'm sure there are other younger whisky enthousiasts around, aren't they? Sweet! That's quite an investment. Will definitely remember for my (someday for sure!) trip to Scotland. Should be nice to compare a few (bring a load of cash as well, probably).

I have just booked my accommodation for the Spirit of Speyside Festival in May 2008 - can't wait 4 days of serious dramming - no better time to go to meet lots of fellow fans of whisky
