1958 Highland Park

Hello all,
I have just found this forum and it looks very interesting.
I wonder if I could ask for some advice. I have a bottle of 1958 Highland Park and am wondering if I should keep a hold of it or should I try and sell it?
It is on thewhiskyexchange.com for £1500 but I wondered about trying it e-bay for less.
Or should I keep it...................!!?

Welcome to the forum - many around here, myself included, would say simply 'drink it, and tell us all about it'.

That's what whisky is for surely.

Selling it really depends on:

a) how much you need the cash
b) how much you like Whisky (or in particular Highland Park)
c) how guilty you'd feel drinking a bottle of whisky worth over £1K

To sell it though an option to you is to ask the Whiskey Exchange how much they would pay you for it - obviously expect less than £1500.

E-bay would be a gamble but you can put a reserve price on it.

Cheers. I think I would regret drinking it. I have actually been 'sampling' the other Orkney malt (Scapa) in the 14 YO variety. Very, very smooth with no peat!

Welcome to the forum orkenny! I'd hold onto it, maybe you'll miss it in years to come when you become the biggest Highland Park fan, and drinking something distilled in 1958 is not common. Heck, help celebrate the distillation next year when it's the 50 year anniversary. Highland Park is special and excellent whisky!

It's probably an excellent whisky. I'd keep it or sell it. Don't think I'd drink it at that price.

Do you know when it was bottled? If it was recently, it will probably increase in value as the stocks of this particular bottle dwindle. If it was bottled a long time ago, it will still increase in value, but not as fast as in the first case.
