LCBO Discontinues Aberlour A'Bunadh!! : (

Grab 'em while you can. There's only a few left.

The LCBO recently listed Aberlour A'Bunadh as "Discontinued".

I have 1/4 bottle of batch #14 left and I have to say it's one of the best scotches I've ever had! Totally unique, tangy, super-fuity, just incredible. Nothing quite like it.

So when I saw that the line was being discontinued here in Ontario I drove for an hour north of Toronto after work to grab one of the last bottles (a batch #18). I post more about that on the tasting board.
I wrote LCBO to find out what the deal is

Gee, I only have to drive 2 hours west into the next Province to find A'bunadh aplenty.

I think it's a terrible shame that the LCBO is discontinuing so many outstanding whiskies. As the largest purchaser of alcohol in the world, we truly have such a pitiful variety.
The good news is that we are still better off than Tequila enthusiasts whose only option for 100% Agave tequila is Patron, and maybe 2 or 3 others of less distinction.

It's time to privatize the LCBO, for greater variety and price reductions.

yeah no kidding, Patron (admittedly a pretty good tequila) or Cabo (not bad but waaay overpriced) or 4 copas (bleh!). A few summers ago they had a few more....they really seem to be "streamlining" their stock in all areas. Soon it'll be nothing but Glenfiddich, Crown Royal and Canadian Club.
