Coleraine Whiskey

Just looking for a bit of advice for my father.

He was given a bottle of Coleraine 34 year old single malt Irish whiskey (in an box with documents I think). Anyway I know nothing about whiskey but just looking for some advice.

Any ideas what that would be worth? He called a shop in Dublin who weren't sure on a value but the only references I can find to it online seems to be at Parker's Whisky where they're selling a bottle for STG£1,295 or wineandwhisky.co.uk for STG£1,400.

So a couple of questions:
- does anyone know if these are reasonable valuations?
- what/where is the best place to sell a whiskey such as this.

Apologies, I'm not much of a whiskey buff but I'd appreciate any help.

Hi Rory

Those are reasonable valuations. What I woud do if I were you is contact some of the big hotels with large whiskey collections. They are often very willing to buy. Don't forget that shops have to make a few quid themselves on these. The Whisky Exchange has one for stg£1,500.

The Four Seasons in Ballsbridge, Dublin, might be interested. Or the new Radison SAS in Dublin. I think you could get between €1,500 and €2,000, maybe more.

Another option is the King Edward Bar in Northern Ireland.

Yes Coleraine is one of the most collectable Irish Whiskey at the moment.

The prices you see are pretty much on the ball but remember they are retail prices so don't get overly excited. I do not think you would get these prices at auction. However I would think long and hard before I'd accept less than £1000 or €1300..

Good luck....... I wish I had one to open ... I'd love to taste it .
