Full Proof Europe's Ledaig 1972

Postby Arrigle » Thu Feb 07, 2008 7:19 pm

Just acquired a bottle. And just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on it, having tried it. Haven't done so myself as yet. It has had some rave reviews.

It seems a remarkable story. Full Proof get remaining bottles of Macnab (and rebottle it?). Anyone know more on this front?

Thanks in advance.

Yes I know the guys who bottled it. It was sat in a warehouse for years in Scotland and Full Proof got the remaining stock last year.

Its brillaint stuff!

I have tasted this whisky a few times in the last months.... :D

It is a very nice dram with some mellow old fashioned peat in it. You have to give it some time but than it reveals a beautiful palette.

Thanks for that. I'm just wondering about how the Macnab cases sat around for 20 years or so. Seems an extraordinary story.

Anyway, I'm greatly looking forward to trying it. I see on Malt Maniacs that a German man, who has collected many Ledaigs, rates the Macnab 95 and the second-best he has tried.

Recently drank the GM Ledaig 25yo from 1975. Very interesting, lots of malty fruit and restrained spice and a definite pastry note in the flavour, but peat is certainly not a factor.

Hello again. Just got a bottle of the Connoisseurs Choice Ledaig 1972. Would anyone know when this one (with the buff-brown label) were bottled? That is, what would be the age statement, roughly speaking? In fact, perhaps this whisky was not released all at once but on a year-by-year basis?

Thanks for any help.

what is the bottle code? Printed on the glass, most of times on the backside of the frontlabel...
