Talisker 10 VS Talisker 1992 DE

I could not detect enough difference in the Talisker 10 & the 1992 DE to warrant paying the extra 30 dollars for the 1992.

What are your thoughts on the 1992 Talisker DE?

I like the extra element the "92 DE has and currently I can get the DE on clearance for $39US vs $44US for the 10/ Both good bargain drams and I'm stocking them up as fast as I can because the regular price for the 10 is $54US and the DE $78US.

Not sure why the 10 is so much less than everyone else, but the store that has the DE seems to get bulk clearance stuff from the distributor at a huge discount. It's the same place I got the Cragganmore DE for $39, Glenmorangie 15yo for $39, Glenmorangie 10yo for $24 with crystal tumblers and the Burgundy and Madeira for $34. I've just about cleaned them out for future stock.

Not really. I live in a dry county and the closest store I call "local" that has even a decent selection is 60 miles away. The drive is through scenic mountains so it's not all bad. The ones closer are limited to Glenlivet, Glenfiddich and a few blends. Best selections are in Little Rock, 120 miles or Dallas, 240 miles. Since the state eliminated the over-the-limit law, I just load up when I can road trip.

We pay $52 for the Talisker 10, and $69 for the Distillers Edition, up here in WA.

I really enjoy both, and they are as different as apples and oranges. Tal 10 is one of my everyday drams, and the Distillers Edition, is a little sweeter, sherry, yet with all the Talisker characteristics (smoky,salty, little fire). The D.E. really hits the spot when I'm in the mood for it.

I think the Dist. Ed. is well worth the the $17 difference we pay for it here.

Talisker 10 is $50-ish here, and the DE is $70 -- and I've only seen it in East Tennessee, and I'm in Middle; distribution varies -- but I prefer the 10yo, anyway, so it's a no-brainer here.

I really like what the Sherry has to offer in the DE. They are both great drams in their own right though. There is room in my bar for both bottles.

I really enjoy the DE - the sherry wood finish seems to add a nice dimension to an already excellent whisky.

But whereas the Talisker 10 is a "regular dram" that I would drink regularly, I tend to drink the DE less often due to the price difference.
