I have been friends with this whisky for 15 years or so now, however it occurs to me that the bottlings now are different from the ones in say 1990. The labels look identical for all intents and purposes, how do I tell the 2002 25 year old from the 1990 25 year old appart? Does anyone have any 'secret codes'?

Does anyone know the actual age of the whisky in the assemblage currently?

Hi Nic ,
Is this the Anniversary Malt your on about ?
It has the year of distillation and year of bottling on the very bottom of the label.

yes it is the Anniversary malt, I always call it the 25 year old! I have had a look and can't find anything that resembles a date, where should I be looking?

Hi Nic, Macallan stopped vintage dating the 25 yo around 2001. The date on older bottlings is about 1 cm above the bottom of the front label. One side bearing the year of distillation the other the date of bottling.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense now, the 25 year olds I have in are probably 2001 / 2002 vintage and I can't see anything and I have drunk the older ones!
