Glenfarclas 105 Discontinued?

I went to try and buy a bottle of Glenfarclas 105 today and the guy at the store told me it was discontinued? He said they have been having trouble getting any of them in stock through their distributor. This is a pretty reputable store (Spec's) so I hope they weren't just making stuff up. Anyone heard this? I can't find any info on it

I don't know - might be a regional thing, as I haven't seen any shortages of the 105 here in Colorado. Honestly, I can't see them canning this one, but who knows any more?!?

Interesting because it is hard to find around here... only 1 store... same with Bruichladich

A month or so ago I heard a rumour that they're changing the packaging. I confirmed this with Royal Mile Whiskies who expect the new packaged bottles to arrive later in the summer. They also confirmed that they don't believe the liquid is changing - just cosmetic adjustments.

On the subject of the 105. I am curious to hear from those who have tasted more Glenfarlcas that I have. The only one I have tried is the 12Yr and it was an average dram for me. The reason I am interested in trying the 105 is because a lot of people seemed to have lumped it in with the Abundah and Macallan Cask Strength, 2 whiskeys I happen to like a lot. So if I like those 2 will I like the 105 or should I stay away since I didn't like the 12?

The 12yo is extremely bland compared to the 105, and a great many of my whisky drinking friends who are indifferent to the 12yo, love the 105 - so go for it.

Guess we can blame the importers or the shop managers - I have a similar problem with the Laphroaig QC - I've only been able to find it in one or two shops, both over 60 miles away. Not a bottle to be had here in Colorado Springs, as far as I can tell. Got the 10, 15, CS, etc. - but no QC. Half a million people, no QC. Bastiges.
