THE MACALLAN 1841 REPLICA

I have a chance to get my hands on a bottle of The Macallan 1841 Replica for a hopefully resonable price.

Who has tried it and what are your thoughts??

It is rated well in the whisky mag tasting notes!

I should be able to get it for under $160AUS delivered.

That's about 78 Pounds.

I haven't tried the 1841 yet, although I did pick up a bottle of the 1861 Replica a while back. I liked the sound of the tasting notes on it, but have yet to open it. I'd planned on waiting until my 50th birthday, but that's still a few years off, so I'll need to find a nice excuse to crack it open.

I would say, however, that if you like Macallans to go ahead and buy it. Provenance and taste aside, it's a great looking bottle to have in your cabinet. Based on a fake, not authentic - I don't care, so long as it's good whisky - which, according to MJ, it is. . .

My vote - go for it.

PS - I paid US$220 for my 1861, so your 1841 doesn't sound that bad at all by comparison. . .

Well I just got the 1841 for $155 Australian Delivered..

So i'm pretty happy. Not that i'm planning on opening it for a while.

But i'm looking forward to the day that i do

Just a side notes directed to knowledgeable people around here, there are quite a few.. Ain't it the "fake" one ? Meaning the one based on a supposedly 1841 whisky that was inf act already a copy made in the 70s ? (the 1970s !) or was it the 1851 ?
That doesn't take away the good tasting notes of course..
