Lagavulin 16 in Christchurch?

I am going to be in Christchurch, NZ for a few days. I looked at the Whiskygalore website and see they don't stock Lagavulin. Does anyone know of a shop in Christchurch that stocks Lagavulin 16?

I would go ahead and check out the Whisky Galore while in Christchurch, even though they don't mention it on their website they may still have it in stock. They have a very nice selection of single malts there, in fact I was quite impressed!

And conveniently you can stop in Oamaru on the way down to Dunners and pick up a bottle of Milford. Very nice malt.

Thanks for the replies. I did not find Lagavulin on their website either by doing a search or going to the Islay SMS section. Strange. I'll have to try out Milford. Never knew their was a Kiwi whisky.

Actually I am on my way to Antarctica via Christchurch. They will let us carry a few bottles down with us so I am going to stock up on the good stuff as much as my meager weight limit allows.

Did you try the link I provided to Whisky Galore? I found the Lagavulin 16 without a problem. I have just not called to confirm it is in stock.

Who are you going to the Antarctic with?

I work for a U.S. Government contractor. Whiskygalore is a popular spot for Americans on their way south apparently. This is from their website:

There's a good Thai restaurant just down Colombo street from them..so it'll be a good day. Buy a bottle of Talisker and something else and then have some great Thai food.

There's a nice Italian restaurant just two doors down from Whisky Galore that serves a great seafood marinara plus some tasty local brews on tap.

Thanks for the tip on the Italian! I am partial to good 'ol Canterbury Draught but am certainly ready, willing, and able to venture out on the local brews.

BTW I contacted Michael at Whiskygalore and they do have Lagavulin 16 in stock, they just have not updated the website.
