Glenmorangie Signet

Anyone tried the new Glenmorangie Signet?

I noticed it in a local store this evening but at £120 a bottle I managed to resist

From the description is sounds like something you'd either lover or hate but I'd like to try it so I'm thinking about signing up for the Glenmo masterclass at the forthcoming Glasgow Whisky live as it's listed as one of the drams.

Yeah I was interested in this too John, but they have pitched it too expensive for me. I was hoping we might get a wee shot at WL.

tasted it last week
rather liked it....
but at taht price tag i think i'll resit it for a while
but a very well balanced whisky lovely and interesting flavour
great nose
a real mouthfull
losts of stuff happening
loveley finish
should be around at some of the many festivals....

I see lfw have just got it in and can't offer any taste notes but it looks awesome.

I had a wee sample of this yesterday. Really nice whisky, but as has been said before it's way out of my price range.

I think the Signet is a good example of how perceptions can change with age statements.

I accept that many of us don't buy £120 whiskies at all - or not for drinking. But I might occasionally do this, and I was impressed by the Signet when I tasted it "blind". When I found out what that it was a NAS whisky, I thought the price tag was way off beam, despite the impressive taste. Yet when I heard that much of the whisky in the blend was over 35yo, my perception changed - the price tag started to seem reasonable.

Nick, you've expressed something that everyone struggles with: built in bias. Most don't know they have it. I know that I have biases based on the different distilleries but I strive to ignore these when trying to whiskies. Sometimes I'm successful; other times....

In the case of the Signet, I give it good marks. It's just not something I would buy at the price point. Before I knew the price, I had been told about the older casks (after trying it). I still didn't like it enough to pay the price for getting a bottle when it finally hits the market here (I haven't seen it in a store yet).

I've tried this a bit, and I love it.

Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it's a quality whisky, and you are rewarded for your outlay.

(Nothing worse than paying a lot of money for a mediocre dram).

What's more, it offers a fairly unique and different flavour profile - the old casks in the vatting add rich, oaky, dark chocolate and liqueur flavours, while the younger casks add sweetness, citrus, and a bit of life. It's actually a very complex dram as a result, and I think it's one of the best Glenmorangies ever.

It was good and different. It is an expression that I would liketo spend time with, I think that there was more there than I could extract in a show tasting.

I didn't really know the price. but I did really like it.

Got a bottle of the Signet a month ago. Really enjoyable stuff. Expensive but I am a slag for ridiculous packaging!
