Aultmore 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 7 The nose displays a lovely freshness and though the rather dominant oak reigns that freshness in on the palate, it is still a thoroughly enjoyable aperitif style whisky.
BenRiach 10 Years Old
Single Malt - ScScotland - 43.00% 7 The balance shifts in favour of the oak on this one and thus the complexity of nose is missing on the palate.
Black Mountain BM No2
Blended - France - 40.00% 7 Another one that has fallen foul of the oak on the palate. That grain spirit-like note seems to indicate that this might be a blend.
Compass Box Hedonism Quindecimus
Blended - Scotland - 46.00% 8 A lovely, moderately aged grain whisky. This has a truly unique flavour profile which every whisky lover should try at least once.
Tennessee - U.S.A. - 50.00% 7 What is this? A flavoured whisky? A strange European whisky? Either way, it's perhaps a bit young.
Craigellachie 13 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 A lovely, vibrant malt with what appears to be plenty of Highland character. (Although, it'll probably turn out to be to from somewhere completely different!)
Edradour Port Cask Matured
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 If the oak hadn't taken the edge off the palate this would have scored higher. Still a very enjoyable dram!
Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 47.00% 7 I don't think this has spent long enough in the cask to completely remove all the impurities.
Glen Breton Rare 19 Years Old
Single Malt - Canada - 43.00% 7 This whisky shows a pleasant degree of maturity and is fuller bodied than what I would have expected, but it still displays some lovely Canadian graininess.
Glendalough Single Malt Whiskey 7 Years Old
Single Malt - Republic of Ireland - 46.00% 7 I know that there are a number of people out there that love this type of whisky, but I'm afraid that I'm not one of them!
Glengoyne 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 7 I don't think this fell out of the complexity tree at birth, and time and oak hasn't helped. In saying that, it has a pleasant nose.
Knappogue Castle Single Malt Whiskey 14 Years Old Twin Wood
Single Malt - Republic of Ireland - 46.00% 8 I hoped the ‘funkiness' of the nose would follow through on to the palate, but it was more conservative.
Mackmyra Moment Solsken
Single Malt - Sweden - 52.60% 8 Now, that's excellent whisky – power, elegance and complexity.
Port Charlotte Islay Barley Heavily Peated
Single Malt - Scotland - 50.00% 7 A little too oily for its own good one thinks.
Smögen Svensk Single Malt Sherry Project 1:1
Single Malt - Sweden - 51.80% 8 With all those red fruit notes, this tastes a lot like Longrow Red.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company Bruichladdich Batch 2
Single Malt - Scotland - 52.70% 8 Sherry monster aficionados will be bashing down the doors to get hold of this!
That Boutique-y Whisky Company Invergordon Batch 3
Single Grain - Scotland - 49.80% 7 Is this a first fill Oloroso matured blend? It certainly gives that impression.
The Glenlivet Nàdurra First Fill Selection
Single Malt - Scotland - 59.80% 8 Young, very exuberant. Enjoyable with or without water.
Wemyss Vintage Malts Dark Treacle Fondant
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 7 As you know I am not a huge fan of this style of whisky. However there is just enough sweetness to balance its industrial character.
Wemyss Vintage Malts Smoke on the Water
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 I love that Bowmore-esque Parma Violet character and I really love that finish.
WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey Old World Series: Sauternes Finish
Rye - U.S.A. - 45.00% 8 If you like it fat and simple, then this is right up your street
