After nine years at the helm our Editor moves on to pastures new
So I write this as my train hurtles through the countryside towards London. I like writing on the train, there are no distractions other than the landscape you are travelling through.
Well the news may have filtered through to you already, it has been out on the social media wires for a little while now but I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you.
This is one of those columns I guess I would write eventually. I am leaving. There is not other way to say it, but it's time for pastures new and different challenges. I have had nine great years here at the magazine and had a very good time. Who wouldn't, the whisky industry and especially Scotland is one of the best subjects to cover as a journalist and I took the decision that I wanted to play a part in one of it's main exports. I too wanted to join the ranks of men and women in the whisky industry who have occasionally graced the pages of this magazine.
I owe a debt of thanks to so many people over the years who have helped, advised, cajoled, taught and drank with me. They are too many to mention. In this I include you dear readers, because without you the magazine would not exist. You are all wonderful, passionate people who I thank from the bottom of my heart. Keep exploring and don't forget that whisky is meant to be fun.
