Whisky Magazine - Editors Choice - Winner

Compass Box This Is Not A Luxury Whisky
Blended - Scotland - 53.10%
9 Simply stunning! A little more sweetness in the finish might have been nice.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Aultmore 25 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
9 Beautiful and mature. I'm running out of superlatives for it.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Berrys' SIngle Malt Scotch Whisky 1996, Clynelish, Cask #6424
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Now that's the sort of Highland whisky I like!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Darkness! Ben Nevis 17 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 49.00%
8 You might think that it is sherry matured but no, it's 100% American oak aged.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Edinburgh Whisky Library Collection Glenlivet
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A wonderful fruit bomb of a malt but a bit too perfumed to want more than one dram of this at a time.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Isle of Arran Distillery Smugglers' Series Vol.1 'The Illicit Stills'
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.40%
8 A big, malty dram that needs some water to assess.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Lombard Single Malt Teaninich 1984
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 Another whisky where the palate fails to deliver to what the nose promises!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye - U.S.A. - 55.00%
8 It's a bit hardcore this one. If you have an allergy to bitter spices then I'd pass.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Tomatin 36 Years Old Batch 1
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
9 A magical mix of Bourbon and sherry matured spirit.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Tullamore D.E.W. Trilogy
Pot Still - Republic of Ireland - 40.00%
8 Pleasant, soft and subtle. However I think it might have benefited from being bottled at 46% ABV, which would have given the palate a little more intensity.

Connoisseurs Choice Ledaig 1999
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 Instantly recognisable! I will say this has a bit more balancing sweetness than is the norm.

J. P. Wiser's Double Still Rye
Rye - Canada - 43.40%
7 A subtle rye whisky with more than a passing resemblance to an Irish grain whiskey.

Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey 16 Years Old Sherry Finish
Single Malt - Republic of Ireland - 40.00%
8 Appears to be a fairly young whisky but it has some charm. It would be interesting to see what a little more time would do for it.

Label 5 Extra Rare 18 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
8 I had a sneaky feeling whilst nosing this that the oak would be too over-powering for the palate. I was correct in that assumption.

Old Particular Cameronbridge 25 Years Old
Single Grain - Scotland - 60.60%
8 Who says grain whiskies have no body? A fantastic, middle aged grain.

Old Pulteney 1989
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A lovely, crisp and fresh young Highland malt. Just the dram to revive a tired palate.

Smögen Svensk Single Malt Single Cask 7/2011 Fresh Sauternes Barrique
Single Malt - Sweden - 57.30%
8 Mad, bad and dangerous to know!

Sonoma County Cherrywood Rye Whiskey
Rye - U.S.A. - 48.00%
6 This should have been given a lot more time in the cask, it's been bottled far too early and thus it's very difficult to evaluate because of the impurities that haven't been removed by the oak.

The Dalmore 21 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 42.00%
8 It's all about the sherry cask. No blemishes, but simple and ultimately for me, a little unexciting.

Wemyss Malts Single Cask Release Kirsch Gâteau
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 One sniff and it confirms that there is going to be zero distillery character here. However it is completely blemish free.
