Lombard Jewels of Scotland Brora 1982 Cask #876
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.10% 9 A classic American oak aged, mature Highland Malt.
anCnoc 22 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 Simply gorgeous!
Chivas Regal 18 Ultimate Cask Collection
Blended - Scotland - 48.00% 8 Now, that's an example of a fine blended whisky!
Edinburgh Whisky New Town Blends “The Advocates Batch”
Blended Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 This subscribes to the simple fact of good spirit plus good wood equals a good blend!
Elijah Craig Single Barrel 18 Years Old
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 45.00% 8 Now that has some serious character and an almost Knob Creek-like hardness.
Glen Scotia Double Cask
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 If from the distillery I think this is from, then it has seriously upped it's game.
Glenmorangie Milsean Private Edition
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 Underneath all that oak the spirit feels quite young, although the youthful intensity sort of makes it work quite well.
Green Spot Château Léoville Barton
Pot Still - Republic of Ireland - 46.00% 9 Enjoyable whiskey. The wood was a little intrusive on the palate, but the finish was superb.
Lady of the Glen Tobermory 1995, 20 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 56.60% 8 Beautifully poised and balanced. You have to love its intensity.
Millstone Special #7 Heavy Peated
Single Malt - Netherlands - 46.00% 8 Big, robust, chunky, very malty and with just the right amount of peat. Impressive.
Smögen Svensk Sherry Project 1:3
Single Malt - Sweden - 53.70% 8 Big sherry and even bigger peat. It's a monster. Those of a nervous disposition should turn away now, but I love it.
Talisker Neist Point
Single Malt - Scotland - 45.80% 9 Beautifully balanced and vibrant.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company Tormore Batch 2
Single Malt - Scotland - 51.40% 8 A lovely Spey. I'd like to have seen a little more honey sweetness on the finish to balance the drier notes, but that's picky.
WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey Old World 12 Years
Rye - U.S.A. - 43.00% 8 Great balance of spirit and wood.
Ballantine's Hard Fired
Blended - Scotland - 40.00% 7 A fairly simple blend with the nose showing more interest than the palate.
Borders Single Grain Scotch Whisky
Single Grain - Scotland - 51.70% 7 It's interesting to note that the sulphur on the palate isn't really noticeable on the nose.
Grant's 8 Years Old
Blended - Scotland - 43.00% 8 Another blend where the nose offers a lot more than the palate.
JP Wiser's Hopped Whisky
Blended - Canada - 40.00% 7 Tasted blind you could easily mistake this for a Scottish grain whisky
Raasay While We Wait
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00% 8 A very pleasant Highland whisky which reminds me of Glen Garioch, which isn't a bad thing!
The Glenturret Sherry Edition
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00% 8 A pleasant and mature whisky. Perhaps lacking the complexity or flavour development to really excite.
