8 A bold dram with lots of oak influence.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

High West Campfire
Blended - U.S.A. - 46.00%
8 A blend of peated malt and Bourbon? Very odd, but it works surprisingly well.

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Kilkerran 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
9 Classic, oozing character and class. If you love this style of whisky, then it's a must buy!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Lombard Single Malt Springbank 1965

9 This can only come from one distillery in Scotland. Unique and stunning!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

8 I can feel the salt crystals forming on my tongue after that one!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Tomatin Warehouse 6 Collection 1971

8 Dark chocolate and whisky, my favourite combination and if I can have it in a glass, then even better!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Tomintoul Tlàth
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 A pretty entertaining dram. I certainly wasn't expecting that finish!

Whisky Magazine - Recommended - Winner

Wemyss Malts Single Cask Release Briny Tangle
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
9 Heavenly. I'd buy it for the finish alone, which incidentally lasts for minutes.

A. D. Laws Secale Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye - U.S.A. - 50.00%
7 You can't hurry maturation.

anCnoc Black Hill Reserve
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Don't let this whisky's pale straw colour deceive – this is a lively, assertive, fresh-tasting dram whose flavours linger pleasingly on the palate.

anCnoc Rùdhan
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Definitely not a smoke bomb this whisky, but a drop or two of water might be appreciated by some to tame the relatively high strength.

Armorik Maître de Chai
Single Malt - France - 46.00%
8 Distinctly different and proving once again that great whisky-making isn't just the preserve of the Scottish.

Ballaglass Blended Scotch Whisky
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
7 A grain heavy blend which has a lovely vibrancy and just enough malt character to add depth.

Dalriada Blended Scotch Whisky
Blended - Scotland - 40.00%
7 A pleasant, relatively straight-forward blend, which shows a good malt/grain balance.

Glen Scotia Campbeltown 1832
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A real tropical fruit bomb of a whisky. Lots to like and savour here if you like things on the sweeter side.

Glen Scotia Victoriana
Single Malt - Scotland - 51.50%
8 At 51.5% ABV a drop or two of water is needed to open up and soften what is otherwise quite a full-on whisky.

Glenglassaugh Octaves Classic
Single Malt - Scotland - 44.00%
8 If only the palate mirrored the nose.

Glenmorangie Dornoch
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 All in all very moreish whisky with some oaky bite adding a bit of oomph. Really rather good.

Glenmorangie The Duthac
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 A fruity sherry-style whisky with plenty of depth to recommend it in my book.

Glenmorangie The Tarlogan
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 Difficult to say no to. An attractively smooth, complex whisky that keeps you coming back for more.

Glenmorangie The Tayne
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 A delicate nose for sure, but then powerful, rich and elegant on the palate. Definitely one to take your time over.

Jameson Bold
Blended - Republic of Ireland - 40.00%
7 A solid, drinkable, everyday whiskey, lacking a little complexity, but very acceptable.

Jameson Lively
Blended - Republic of Ireland - 40.00%
7 A curious beast this one – the odd nose belies an attractively smooth tasting whiskey with some very interesting flavours.

Jameson Round
Blended - Republic of Ireland - 40.00%
7 A well-balanced, elegant whiskey which delivers a good balance of sweet and spice.

Koval Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon - U.S.A. - 47.00%
8 Not sure what to make of this gin inspired Bourbon.

Lady of the Glen Auchentoshan 1995
Single Malt - Scotland - 54.30%
7 I think this has been bottled just in the nick of time.

Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Madeira Wood Finish
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 If you a like a sherried style of whisky this one is definitely for you. Complex, rich and beautifully mature.

Loch Lomond Signature Deluxe Blend
Blended - Scotland - 46.00%
8 A bold, mature whisky with an intriguing nose and woody flavour. A good match for a plate of smoked salmon.

Loch Lomond Single Grain
Single Grain - Scotland - 46.00%
7 A little underwhelming. The flavours feel a bit muddled and undeveloped and the relatively high strength delivers a burn which needs taming.

Loch Lomond 12 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
8 Something of a hot firecracker of a whisky. Interestingly, the addition of water ramps up the smokiness on both the nose and palate

Murray McDavid Benchmark: Tobermory 20 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 Luckily, it hasn't been compromised by sulphur tainted sherry butts.

Sullivans Cove American Oak Cask Matured
Single Malt - Australia - 47.50%
8 Refreshing to see a well-matured Australian whisky that is not overpowered by sherry. I'll drink to that!

Sutcliffe and Son The Exceptional Blend 1st Edition
Blended - Scotland - 43.00%
8 There appears to be a lot of first-fill American oak here and is a lesson on how influencing it can be.

The Dalmore Dominium
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
7 Too sweet for some perhaps, but those with a liking for sherry-influenced whiskies will find a lot to like here

The Dalmore Luceo
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 A complex, mature whisky with lots of depth and richness. One to savour and take time to enjoy — a perfect dram to enjoy with friends while putting the world to rights.

The Dalmore Regalis
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
7 Not too much to get the pulses racing here. A perfectly acceptable straightforward dram, but perhaps lacking a bit of character and depth.

The Dalmore Valour
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 A proper comfort blanket of a whisky this one. One to enjoy on a winter evening in front of a fire; sweet and rich with a hint of spice.

Tomatin 15 Years Old American Oak Casks
Single Malt - Scotland - 46.00%
7 A drop of water helps soften up this quite high strength whisky, making it more mellow and approachable.

Tomatin 40 Years Old
Single Malt - Scotland - 43.00%
8 Delightfully, intense whisky that delights and surprises at every turn. It has real depth and character. A bottle of this wouldn't last long in my house.

Tomatin 8 Years Old Bourbon & Sherry Casks
Single Malt - Scotland - 40.00%
8 What to make of this oddball? Some rather contrasting, complex flavours that strangely hang together rather well. One to ponder and enjoy.
