What does whisky mean to you?
Whisky Magazine is to launch a new feature next issue – but we need your help. Dominic
Roskrow explains
Is it about nosing serious drams in masterclasses? Does it mean St Patrickâs celebrations, Hogmanay and the Kentucky Derby? Perhaps itâs Guns Nâ Roses, Mick and Keef, Willie Nelson or Richard Harris?
Perhaps your magic whisky moments include windy sunsets on Islay, but just as much, they might include sirens at sunrise in the city of your choice.
What do you find fascinating about whisky? Is it the diversity, or the production or maturation process? Perhaps itâs the global business of whisky and the way it is marketed. Does it amuse you that Margaret Thatcher drank it to stay awake, and that Saddam Hussein had caseloads of it hidden away?
Our new World of Whisky pages, launched next issue, aim to capture the many sides of whisky in an irreverent and fun way. We want to recount anecdotes involving whisky, to capture amusing moments and to reflect how it appears in the media.
When BBC correspondent John Simpson writes about his love of Laphroaig or Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen turns his nose up at a glass of Bruichladdich with the words: âIâd rather stick to champagneâ, then this is where weâll report it.
Weâll cover trends and the more gossipy end of the news, and feature points of trivia that help make the world of whisky such a fascinating one.
The emphasis will be on fun, but there will be an educative role to the pages too. We want to feature a duty-free buy of the month in each issue, and there will be a âwhat to buyâ section in which weâll take.....
