Copenhagen Kastrup.
If only every duty-free shop could look like Swiss travel retailer The Nuance Group’s new flagship store at Copenhagen airport.
At a spacious 2,700sq m this light, airy outlet, is easily the largest airport shop in Europe. The wellstocked liquor section is separated into three areas: white liquor, wine and brown liquor. Between 250 and 270 whiskies are offered in the brown liquor corner, about 80 per cent of them Scotch whiskies, 10 per cent Irish, and the remaining 10 per cent Bourbons and other international whiskies.
The store’s best-selling whiskies are all blends: The Famous Grouse, Chivas Regal and Ballantines.
The malt selection is impressive and includes a number of rare, super-premium or travel-retail exclusive references, including Laphroaig 30 year old (DKK2,349/£215.85), Bowmore 25 year old (DKK1,499/£137.75), Ardmore 100th Anniversary (DKK999.95/£93.26) and Springbank 1989 Port Wood (DKK579/£353.20).
The store has a rolling programme of promotions and about six-eight whiskies are available for tasting at any one time. During August offers include Ballantines Gold Seal at DKK229.95 (£21.12), Scapa 14 year old at DK209.95 (£19.30) and Laphroaig 10 year old at DKK219.95 (£20.20).
An excellent whisky offer is also to be found at Nuance’s Connoisseurs Club store, which is located in Terminal 3.
