Well readers of this column will have noticed I very rarely talk about what is actually going on in the magazine but this edition is somewhat different.
Here we are and what a joyous occasion it is to have reached our 10th Anniversary edition. Doubtless many people when this magazine first launched would not have predicted the growing success of this publication, and indeed malt whisky. But as we celebrate a decade of some of the best whisky writing we are in a strong, independent and authoritative position.
If I make no other promises, it will be that the magazine will continue to offer you some of the best analysis, comment, insights and reports from the global world of whisky.
I do hope you enjoy the content of this special issue. You will notice that among the usual features and articles we have peppered the pages with pieces that take on the ‘10' theme, that are intended to inspire and entertain you.
I have to say on a personal note that it is a great honour to sit at the helm of such a great ship during this period. When you start a career in journalism, or find yourself in it, I don't think you can imagine that after a certain amount of time, covering news and councils you would end up working for a magazine covering whisky. For someone of my background, i.e. that drinks and loves whisky, it's perfect. And to take over from such illustrious predecessors and have some of the best writers as your mentors and guides makes the education fun and exceptionally interest...
