Rockers of the world, time to put down that Jack n’ Coke, for a new whisky is competing to become the most ubiquitous Rock n’ Roll accessory since Slash’s top hat… “Smoke and Coke” a cocktail using the heavily peated single malt, Smokehead was recently the drink of choice at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour awards ceremony, which took place at London’s Park Lane Hotel.

The event, now in its fifth year, has established itself as one of the most prestigious awards on the classic rock calendar.

Competition was fierce with the likes of AC/DC, Metallica and Guns ‘N’ Roses going head to head in one category and ZZ Top, Def Leppard and Motorhead locking horns with The Who, Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath and The Kinks.

Winners included AC/DC (for Album Of The Year) as well as further accolades for Iggy Pop (Living Legend) and Iron Maiden (for Band Of The Year) Classic Rock Magazine’s Editor- At-Large Geoff Barton said: “We are extremely proud to align ourselves with an innovative and adventurous brand such as Smokehead. The immense rollercoaster of flavours makes it the ideal drink to serve to our rock royalty.” Iain Weir, marketing director for Ian Macleod Distillers, Smokehead’s owners continued by saying that: “It’s a great honour to be able to serve our whisky to such a prestigious gathering of rock music’s elite.”
