A decade of drams
Whisky Live! in Japan became the first Live to reach the 10 year anniversary, again at Tokyo Big Sight on Sunday February 21st.
The event continues to both grow -just under 5,500 participants throughout the day- and to develop- this year saw demonstrations of Scottish barfood, a manga artist, live painters and a former sumo champion, to mention but some of the peripheral activities.
The highball, that has revolutionised Japanese whisky drinking practices over the past 12 months, was prominently on display, with a range of draft dispensers on the Suntory booth offering highballs.
The new buoyancy in the whisky market over here was reflected in the number of first-timers at Live!
this year and both exhibitors and visitors alike seemed to share a more positive outlook than has been the case in the past.
Japanese producers and consumers have sent a clear message to the world that whisky is on the way back!
