Growth for Grants

Independent and family owned distillers William Grant & Sons Ltd has recorded pre-tax profits for the Group of £129.2 million for 2008, a growth of 55% on the previous year, on a turnover of £598.3 million, up 21%.

The growth comes from the continued success and investment behind its core global brands, including Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, Grant’s Blended Scotch whisky, The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Hendrick’s Gin, the fastest growing super premium gin globally (Source: IWSR 2008) and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum.

During the course of 2008, William Grant & Sons completed a number of important initiatives including the commissioning of its new malt distillery, Ailsa Bay, at the Company’s facility in Girvan and the establishment of a European relationship with Rémy Cointreau. This includes a new joint venture in France and a distribution deal with the Company’s UK subsidiary First Drinks Brands, making it the country's leading supplier of premium drinks brands.
